International Tuba and Euphonium Association 2016 Conference Preview
This year's ITEA conference is coming up May 30 to June 4. This year's conference will be held at the University of Tennessee. Are you thinking of making the trek to Tennessee for this conference? Here's some things to expect.
Competitions
Look for a number of competitions including solo, mock band, mock orchestra, quartet, and jazz. The semi-finalists are available on the website right now. There's a wide variety of ages will compete. Also, how can you miss Stella by Starlight with rhythm section and Tuba?
Ensembles
If you read the full list of ensembles, it will take a long time. The list is crazy long and that's a good thing. There's everything from collegiate ensembles to the Army Tuba quartet.
Presentations
The list of presenters is long and distinguished. Beyond that though, the schedule has some great opportunities to learn and grow. This includes everything from Tuba and Jazz, to career paths, to pedagogy and the vocalise.
Solo Performances/Recitals
The problem with the list here is that choices will have to be made. In order to see Gene Pokorny's recital, you will have to miss something else. Choose wisely.
If you're planing to go, there's still time to register. Are you going to the conference this year? What are you most looking forward to on this packed schedule? Let us know in the comments.
